CSG’S £300,000 INVESTMENT IN DANISH DEWATERING SYSTEM

CSG’S £300,000 INVESTMENT IN DANISH DEWATERING SYSTEM

Cleansing Service Group (CSG), the Fareham-based waste management specialists, have taken delivery of a new £300,000 mobile dewatering unit from Danish supplier Simon Moos Maskinfabrik.

It’s the latest vehicle to come on stream as part of CSG’s £12 million vehicle fleet replacement programme which will see the company acquire 175 new vehicles over the next five years ranging from CCTV-equipped vans to 6,000 gallon articulated tankers.

The new unit incorporates the Danish company’s advanced KSA treatment and recycling system and will boost CSG’s contaminated liquid waste handling capability. The company is already the UK’s leading supplier of liquid waste collection and treatment services.

CSG will use it primarily in industrial situations such as emptying and dewatering the contents of car and commercial vehicle washes, garage forecourt interceptors and gullies, but are also considering employing it for septic tank clearance – a sector in which the company is UK market leader.

The unit, originally developed to dewater the contents of septic tanks in Denmark, acts as a self-contained mobile treatment plant in which solids and liquids are separated. Solids are extracted and collected to form a cake and the cleansed water is returned to source.

The addition of a jetter and cyclone pump means the water can also be re-used for jetting, site cleaning and re-priming forecourt interceptors which cuts out the need to use mains water.

The unit can handle up to 200 operations before having to be emptied which greatly reduces both the amount of waste to be transported and disposed of.

“There are huge economic and environmental advantages to this self-contained system,” said CSG managing director Paul Quigley.

“Operating costs are reduced because the vehicle is able to be out working for long periods at a time before being discharged and this also cuts the time spent travelling to and from disposal sites, which in turn leads to reduced fuel, running and disposal costs.

“There’s also a bonus for the environment because we are able to reduce the need to transport unnecessary waste around the country which cuts our carbon emissions in line with CSG’s environmental management commitments. That also helps cut traffic congestion. And, of course, by recycling collected liquids we are able to help conserve fresh water supplies.”
