CSG AWARDED TOTAL WASTE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT BY WORLD LEADER

Messier-Dowty, the world’s leading landing gear manufacturer, has awarded a three year total waste management contract to the Hampshire-based Cleansing Service Group.

Won against intense competition, the contract covers the collection, recycling and disposal of all day-to-day waste generated on Messier-Dowty’s Gloucester site including hazardous waste such as liquid process chemicals and heavy metal effluent, cutting oils, contaminated oils, packaged drum waste and fluorescent lamps.

Alan Lock, Messier-Dowty’’s facilities manager said that CSG’s vision combined with excellent processing and recycling facilities had been major factors in them being awarded the contract.

“Their pro-active approach and commitment to the concept of providing a total waste management service also enables us to further enhance our green credentials by maximising recycling and minimising the amount of waste going to landfill.”

CSG managing director Paul Quigley said: “Winning the contact was helped by our on-going investment in the infrastructure and advanced technologies to increase our recycling capabilities, alongside making our processing techniques as environmentally friendly as possible.

“We also employ expert staff, including an on-site contract manager at Messier-Dowty, to ensure we are doing everything possible to help our customer comply with the growing raft of environmental legislation and regulation which UK industry has to contend with.”

Messier-Dowty, a Safran group company, has been at the forefront of landing gear technology for over 75 years. The 27 acre Gloucester facility employs around 1,000 people and the company’s landing gear is in service on more than 25,500 aircraft making over 35,000 landings every day.

CSG is one of the largest privately-owned waste management groups in Britain. It has many blue-chip industrial and commercial customers as well as Government departments and local authorities.
